Human Design for alignment and success

ree

Understanding your unique human design blueprint can put you on the right path for alignment and success.

Alicia is a guide, mentor and empowerment coach who helps her clients step into their most confident selves through a combination of body-mind connection, somatic practices and human design. We talked to her about what Human Design is, and how an understanding of our unique characteristics can help us implement techniques to find a sense of alignment, ease and flow within our lives and careers.

Delia: Welcome Alicia! Can you give us a brief overview of what Human Design is?

Alicia: Human Design is a system that combines aspects of the Hindu Brahman chakra system, Chinese I Ching, the Kabbalah, Astrology, quantum physics, and biomechanics. While it sounds complex, I always start with the basics: understanding your type, authority, strategy, and profile. It’s unique to each person, based on their exact birth location, time, and date.

Delia: Interesting! Can you give an overview of these types?

Alicia: Sure! There are five types in Human Design: Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, and Reflector.

Manifestors  are initiators of change, connected to source energy. They’re idea-driven but may not have the energy to execute them, relying on Generators and Manifesting Generators to bring their visions to life. If we were to use ancient Egypt as an analogy, the Manifestors would be the pharaohs.

Generators  are builders. They’re here to master a skill and create something for the world. They have a LOT of energy, but only when they’re doing something they enjoy, otherwise they feel stuck. Let’s say they’re the workers who built the pyramids under a Manifestor’s vision.

Manifesting Generators  combine the energy of Generators with the visionary side of Manifestors. They’re multi-passionate and need variety to keep their energy up. While helping Generators, they may switch between tasks to stay engaged. They are here to show the rest of us that there’s not only one linear path. So while they are also helping the generators build the pyramids, they might be building the steps one day and laying the floor the next.

Projectors  are here to guide and teach. They see things clearly and can solve problems effectively. Projectors give advice but must wait for invitations before sharing their wisdom to avoid feeling rejected. Since they see things clearly, they could be the ones who give advice on how something should be built, like ‘hey guys, let’s build them facing this way so we get the right light from the sun’.

Reflectors  are the truth-tellers, here to sample and amplify life. With open centers that make them highly intuitive, they reflect the environment around them and are here to guide humanity forward. So a reflector might walk in and be like: ‘You know what would make this place cozier? Some plants. And we need a reading nook. And you guys, with the kitchen open, it’s too loud and distracting. We should close that because people will feel uncomfortable’.

Delia: That’s a great breakdown of the types, and I loved your analogy! Earlier, we also talked about strategy, authority, and profile. Now that we know about the types, can you explain the other elements?

Alicia: Sure. Authority is your decision-making process — your inner compass or intuition. Strategy works with your authority to help you make decisions aligned with your energy. I won’t dive into profiles today to keep it simple.

Delia: Love this info as it really ties into why I started Align-Align, to help people become more intentional and aligned. Could you elaborate on the strategies for each type?

Alicia: Absolutely!

Manifestors Their strategy is to inform others about their plans. Since they act quickly, informing people can help prevent pushback and misunderstanding. Alignment: peace Misalignment: anger

Generators and Manifesting Generators Their strategy is to respond to opportunities that arise. Instead of planning things too far in advance, they follow their gut responses to determine their path. If you’re a manifestor or manifesting generator, you should constantly be asking yourself, is this a yes or a no for me? And go with that. Alignment: satisfaction Misalignment: frustration

Projectors

Their strategy is to wait for an invitation before offering guidance. They shine when their advice is sought, but if they give unsolicited advice, they may feel bitter. Alignment: success Misalignment: bitterness

Reflectors Their strategy is to wait for a full lunar cycle (28 days) to make major decisions. This allows them to experience the entire spectrum of energies before arriving at clarity. Alignment: surprise / awe Misalignment: disappointment.

Delia: Super insightful! I can totally relate, because I’m a generator and a freelancer for example — which means my work comes in project by project or month by month. It’s very rare for me to know what I’ll be doing work-wise in 3 months time, and a lot of people seem shocked by that and find the concept really scary. For me it feels totally natural and opportunities always come up and seem to slot in perfectly without me having to plan it. It’s been really helpful for me to understand that because planning things too much and not giving myself room for spontaneity gives me anxiety. I feel so much better when I can just feel my way through things and go with the flow. How have you found personally that human design has helped you?

Alicia: Human Design came into my life after a burnout. I was trying to understand why I was so depleted, while others around me, like my cousin, could juggle multiple responsibilities effortlessly. I discovered I was a Projector with limited energy. This realization helped me understand my need for rest and boundaries. I learned to wait for invitations and manage my energy carefully to prevent burnout again.

Delia: That makes sense! Can you share how Human Design has impacted your clients?

Alicia: My clients often tell me that Human Design gives them a sense of relief. They realise there’s nothing wrong with them and that they can do things in a way that feels natural. It frees them from societal expectations and allows them to embrace their own way of functioning, which leads to more flow and less effort.

Delia: It’s becoming more mainstream to use Human Design in coaching and business. What advice would you give to those wanting to learn more?

Alicia: There are many online resources and free charts, but they can be overwhelming. I recommend booking a reading with someone who can explain how to apply your design in a practical way. It’s one thing to understand your design intellectually, but another to live it. A good reader will make the information tangible and actionable.

Delia: Thanks so much Alicia, this has really opened my eyes up to understanding more about some of my friends and loved ones as well as myself. PS if you’re interested in getting your Human Design chart read, you can reach out to Alicia here.
